| SECURING THE THREAD ON A NEEDLE | ||
|
Do you have a problem keeping the needle threaded? Does your thread fall out of the needle? If you are using a small ply of thread, possibly 1 strand of Anchor or DMC, this tip will help sooo much. 1)
Take the end of the thread, about 2 inches and fold the thread in half.
This will give you a full length of thread and a 3 inch tail. 2) Take the folded tip(A) and place through the needle eye. 3) Pull tip(B) to wrap around the end of the needle. 4) Now pull thread ends(C) until taught on needle. 5) Now you can sew and not loose the thread. This can only be done with a thin ply thread. The knot at the needle eye would be to thick to fit through the fabric, if the ply was too thick.
When you can't do this, i.e. more than one thread, the only option is to leave a long enough tail so the thread will not want to reverse itself from the needle. We all try to save on thread but a few more inches is not much if it saves frustration. Never, never use knots! STARTING AND ENDING THE THREAD ON THE BACK SIDE
